old bones

As a kid (I vaguely remember that I was a kid at one time in my life), I could never figure out why my Mom always groaned when she stood up and sat down.  I of course knew that I would never do that no matter how old I got….until it happened.  After jockeying my desk all day, I stand up and feel the pain of generations of aging bones.  My neck hurts but that doesn’t compare to the cracking that my back and knees make as I stand.  Then I have to balance there before moving as the pain travels down my back.  I almost have a bow-legged swagger until everything settles and I can move smoothly again.  Now I wonder how my Mom managed so well…….
